Intensive Workshops

“That which we do not heal in childhood, we replay in adulthood.”
— Pia Mellody, best-selling author of "Facing Codependence"

“HEALING OUR CORE ISSUES”

Based on the “Survivors” workshop Developed by Pia Mellody

“Healing Our Core Issues” is a 3 day intensive workshop, limited to 4 participants, which investigates the origin of adult dysfunctional behaviors. In this revolutionary educational and experiential process, participants learn to identify unresolved childhood wounds which fuel adult dysfunctions such as painful relationships, depression, anxiety, addictions and eating disorders. The focus is not on blaming caregivers, but rather healing the trauma of less-than-nurturing childhood events which impact adult life. This workshop is based on the groundbreaking work of Pia Mellody and utilizes her model of Developmental Immaturity to treat the origins of Codependency.  The “Healing Our Core Issues” Workshop in separated into four phases:

Didactic Phase - Participants will be educated about the 5 core childhood wounds, the resulting symptoms, and their impact on adult life and relationships. Participants will learn how to move beyond this wounding into the 5 core skills of a functional adult: Self-Esteem, Boundaries, Reality, Interdependency and Moderation. They will also gain an understanding of the roles played in the family system and how those roles impact adult life.

Debriefing Phase – Participants identify less than nurturing and/or abusive childhood experiences, and begin to connect to the associated thoughts and feelings. Clarity is gained about the impact of childhood.

Experiential Phase – Guided by the therapist, participants move through a series of specific processes developed by Pia Mellody to heal issues of childhood relational trauma. In a safe and nurturing environment, painful emotions are released as they begin the process of connecting with their “Inner Child.” Emotions of shame, anger, pain or fear are identified which were absorbed from caregivers who were not managing their own emotions.  Through “Feeling Reduction” energy work, participants are able to release toxic carried emotions, re-claiming their rights and personal power.

Ongoing Recovery and Empowerment Strategies - Participants will receive a set of strategies and tools, enabling them to manifest these empowering principles in their daily lives.
