In my practice, all paths lead to healing.
My path is to:
Guide clients to understand the root of their problems, enabling resolution to occur.
Chart a path of deep healing of psychological, emotional and physical issues with the use of non-invasive techniques
Help clients step away from the wounding of the past and walk a new path.
Use innovative technology which helps clients teach their brains to create new pathways, a path of balance.
Coach other professionals who want to master a dynamic model of leading even the most difficult couples towards loving relationships.
Stressors in life can affect the autonomic nervous system, leading to issues such as sleep disturbance, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, poor digestion and cognitive impairment. What begins as a psychological or emotional issue can manifest into physical issues over time. Rather than masking symptoms with medication, targeting the brain which controls the autonomic nervous system can help to eradicate symptoms. Current difficulties in life are often fueled by events from the past. Rather than ignoring the root cause, my approach is to help clients address the original source, understand the impact and let go of the negative beliefs about one’s self or life which are attached to prior experiences. The goal is for clients to live life without being haunted by the past and live life to the fullest today! By going beyond the limitations of traditional talk therapy with the use of EMDR therapy, Brain Light Therapy (also called transcranial Photobiomodulation), and Neurofeedback, BrainGain SRQ aims to offer a path to true healing.
You are not alone in this journey. Allow a psychotherapist with 25+ years experience to walk with you.
Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy model which helps to process memories that often remain in the brain unprocessed. When memories are unprocessed, the beliefs that were originally associated with the memory remain and continue to affect life as an adult. Beliefs such as “I am unlovable”, “I am not safe”, “I am bad” can impact one’s life in a big way. In addition, when a memory remains unprocessed, it can be very disturbing when the memory is recalled. Other times memories remain suppressed; however, the memories still affect life unknowingly and may manifest through symptoms such anxiety or depressed mood. I often think of it as the body trying to call attention to the need to process the memories and to move forward in life.
A natural, non-invasive medication-free approach, the brain learns through training called neurofeedback. This method is used to treat many mental and physical disorders such as ADD/ADHD, Addictions, Anxiety, Autism/Asperger’s, Chronic Fatigue/Fibromyalgia, Memory Loss/Cognitive Decline (Dementia), Depression, Migraine, Pain Disorders, OCD, PTSD with veterans, sleep difficulties, PMS and menopausal difficulties and head injuries. Additionally, neurofeedback is used to train brain patterns needed for peak performance in sports, school and business and for cognitive enhancement.
A non-invasive approach which uses specific wavelengths of near-infrared light to penetrate the brain and other parts of the body to support brain health, improve performance and provide anti-aging benefits. It is like giving the brain a dose of sunshine and experiencing the healing impact of the sun. Rather than masking symptoms with medications or other types of treatments, brain light therapy works at a cellular level. Directly impacting the mitochondria (energy source in the cell), cells regenerate and grow.. Positive results have been found with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Long Covid, PTSD, ADD, Anxiety, Depression, Sleep Disturbance, Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, memory, executive function and peak performance. Research suggests that near-infrared light has the potential to be neuroprotective, slowing or even completely stopping disease pathology.
A Licensed Mental Health Counselor and EMDR therapist in private practice in Sarasota, I provide counseling to adults with anxiety, depression, codependency, histories of sex abuse and other childhood trauma. I address the underlying issues which contribute to addictions and self-medicating behaviors. Using Pia Mellody’s model of healing codependency, the importance of self esteem and healthy boundaries are emphasized. Through Terry Real’s model of emotionally reconnecting men, men’s issues are addressed.
Healing Core Issues workshops are based on the work of Pia Mellody and address the roots of codependency, leading to re-parenting of the Inner Child. As carried emotions are released and childhood wounds begin to heal, participants learn to develop skills such as Self Esteem, Boundaries and Self Care and become aware of the impact of their wounding on adult relationships.
Coaching is offered for therapists interested in integrating Relational Life Therapy (developed by Terry Real) and Pia Melody’s Inner Child work and model of codependency recovery into their practices. Relational Life Mastery and Coaching helps therapists master these two dynamic models of relational living in both their professional and personal lives.
